The position

Job description

Today, we are looking for a Legal Officer to oversee the compliance and risk management activities for our organization, to be the “backbone” of our business. You will ensure that company operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal issues, create an effective guardian of the organization and facilitate business strategies development.

The successful candidate will be able to ensure legal compliance and limit risk exposure as well as manage all the core legal functions of Comet, including commercial matters, IP, social law, local regulations, GDPR, equity matters, international expansion and corporate governance.

You will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for controlling our legal risk and helping Comet on both operational and strategic legal challenges.

Your Missions (if you accept them):

  • Business compliance & contracts : building the most relevant, scalable, sustainable, compliant and replicable legal model for comet and assisting Sales team in contract negotiation ;
  • Control legal risk : driving all the legal and regulatory requirements, including intellectual property, social law, insurance, fiscal, data privacy, business obligations, GDPR, brand name, in order to allow Comet to grow fast without any regulatory risk ;
  • Corporate matters : advising and supporting corporate governance matters. For strategic transactions, planning and assisting with due diligence, drafting and negotiating deal agreements ;
  • International expansion : having a key role in our international expansion helping the CFO with legal matters for subsidiaries creation and legal model scalability i
  • Tax: understanding the company’s tax requirements and making sure that the company is compliant with various tax authorities ;

Preferred experience

  • 2+ years experience in company or in lawyer’s office on business legal subjects ;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and product driven mindset : you are excited by the challenges that come along with building a disruptive business and this role is exciting to you because you want to build and improve internal process, policies and products within a high growth company;
  • Judgment and ability to act decisively in situations requiring quick but thorough analysis and decision-making : you are able to prioritize and re-prioritize based on changing business needs, and thrive in fast-paced outcomes-driven organizations;
  • Great understanding of the economics and dynamics of Marketplaces and/or transactional products and/or SaaS B2B ;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both French and English ;
