What you will do

About the role

Your mission, should you choose to accept, will mean working hand-in-hand with our Fintech Program Director, Pauline. The work is highly diverse and can range from conducting competitive analyses for open banking platforms to running a private beta launch.

  • At a strategy level, the research you put together will be the backbone of decision-making and program design: You will gather and analyze information, test hypotheses, actively participate in ideation sessions and formulate actionable insights to both inform and inspire action. And while we believe modern consultancies aren’t a slide-a-thon, transforming this into compelling material is part of the job spec.

  • At an operational level, you will help bring this research to life: organizing workshops, helping manage projects, handling partnerships, etc. Since research at Five by Five is most certainly not just a desk job, you will also work with our growing network of experts.

Perks and benefits

  • Flexible work hours. Because it's 2017.
  • Employee Savings Plan. Better known in France as "Plan d'Epargne Entreprise".
  • Annual offsite. So far, we've held them in Lisbon, Valencia and a hackerspace in Normandy.
  • Summer Fridays. Get out of the office early when it's warm and beautiful outside.
  • Lunch vouchers a.k.a. Ticket Resto
  • Team activities. Yoga, escape games and day trips.
  • Tickets to tech events
  • Kindle book budget
  • Monday Morning Breakfast. To get the week started right.
  • Sprints at large. We get that high-concentration work is sometimes better done at away in a mountain cabin. Take off for up to a week at a time to focus.

What we are looking for

About you

You’re a voracious learner, a true bookworm whose passion for learning new things goes beyond any job. You’re in the middle of a torrid love affair with the global startup ecosystem and geek out to emerging tech trends.

You’re a doer: You have a real bias for action and see no contradiction between having a strong operational focus and big-picture mindset. No task is too big or too small for you. You have the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

You’re an above-average communicator in French, with a special talent for making the technical feel human. The trinity: You have serious research and analytical skills, love to write (yes, even for fun) and have an eye for detail. (Note: While the work for this role is mainly in French, the office environment is bilingual so conversational English is a must.)

It would be awesome if you had 1-2 years of experience in: strategy, corporate innovation, service design, VC or B2B startups. That said, for an Analyst role, we believe what you lack in experience you can most certainly make up for through drive and willingness to learn.

(Big) bonus points if you’re into the fintech and/or insurtech scene.
