The position

Job description

The editor-in-chief will provide editorial leadership in brand, voice, process and performance for our science/innovation channel, Genius Club. Genius Clube includes a suite of existing and new content areas including Genius Inventions, It’s Craft Time, and Genius Craft.

This person will lead a team of 15-20 people in curating and creating video content that inspires a millennial audience to participate in the voice of the channel.

Jellysmack has a proprietary set of tools, and a detailed, data-driven process, that has supported the astronomical growth of the channel, and this person will learn and refine and ultimately teach this method, all while driving best in class video storytelling. The video team consists of community managers, editors and motion graphics people who find and create content and encourage participation in strong community groups.

We encourage ideas and content to come from our community of 25 Million fans, and focus on driving engagement across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat. Genius Club accrues over 385 Million video views per month.

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the editorial content for Jellysmack’s Genius Club;
  • Refine the brand tone and voice;
  • Assign stories;
  • Find and partner with key influencers;
  • Manage various KPI’s on the channel, including video views and engagement.

Preferred experience

Requirements:

  • Excel at packaging videos for the unique demands of various social platforms, as well conceptualizing serialized ideas to tell highly engaging, emotional, positive stories ;
  • Be a data driven producer, and be comfortable using the internal and third party tools that we provide to help guide your decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from a school of journalism or communication,
  • 3 to 5 years of experience,
  • 100% bilingual English - if you are American, you are welcome to apply but you must be fluent in French !
  • Experience in management,
  • Background in journalism and/or native digital media company would be an advantage,
  • Well versed in Social networks, including Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube and Instagram.
