The position

Job description

As the first Business Developer dedicated to Germany (based in Paris with regular travels to Germany), you will be responsible for getting Malt started in Germany! It’s a complete role for a business minded entrepreneur. Over the next few months you will have five main tasks:

  • Ensure the product is appropriately adapted for the local markets (in collaboration with our Country Launcher and a dedicated product team).
  • Support the launch of paid acquisition marketing campaigns
  • Build a local freelancer community
  • Develop a first portfolio of clients
  • Gather the first feedback from users to continually adapt the product

It takes a mixture of sales, marketing, creativity, analysis and pure hustle to bring a new country to life quickly! You will work from our amazing Paris office and will learn the trades of launching a startup with an experienced team composed of our Country Launcher, our COO, and our local marketing and product team.

Some more details:

  • Identify freelancing communities (Xing groups, meetups…) and approach them to acquire the first freelancers (events sponsoring…)
  • Onboard them and capture their feedback to improve the product and our marketing messages
  • Organize the first community events, be the face of Malt, inspire, educate and support freelancers
  • Manage the very first clients
  • Support the Country Launcher in product localization
  • Develop, execute & measure the effectiveness of our early local marketing efforts
  • Identify future recruits for the local team
  • Identify potential partners to expand services to freelancing community (accounting, insurance, banking etc…)
  • Quite simply, do whatever it takes to introduce freelancers and companies to Malt!

Preferred experience

  • Master’s Degree, with 1 to 2 years’ experience in a consulting role (sales / business development experience is critical)
  • Self-starter who is good with people and thrive in a fast-paced & results-oriented environment
  • Data-driven with an ability to prioritize tasks
  • Proven interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Team spirit, committed to Malt values and culture
  • Marketplace knowledge and strong network across the country is a plus
  • Native/Fluent in German (written and oral)
