We are looking for a passionate Lead Data Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-paced team in the Selency Paris headquarters. You will be responsible for the technical implementation and scaling of the full Selency data platform.

Your first responsibility will be to lead the integration and ingestion of our raw data sources such as transactional platform data and clickstream data. You will direct the development of the Selency data warehouse and own the implementation of all required operational data models. In addition, you will be responsible for implementing and operationalising a number of important data applications such as BI reporting, marketing automation, customer segmentation and content personalisation.

Your day-to-day development will take place in Amazon Redshift and the broader AWS ecosystem. As part of your role, you need to be an absolute SQL and data modelling rockstar. At a later stage, you will also be responsible for building and owning the Selency real-time data stack which will be based on AWS services.

The successful Lead Data Engineer will come from a strong quantitative background and be self-motivated to drive the Selency technical data agenda. You will work closely with product, tech and business teams to identify, spec and deliver the required technical projects. Over time, you will be responsible for growing and scaling the Selency data capability, and hiring & building your own team of data engineers.

Main responsabilities/challenges :

• Build BI reporting and visualisation toolkit.
• Own the end-to-end Selency data ecosystem.
• Integrate all required raw data sources.
• Monitor and structure the data processes.
• Build and scale Selency data warehouse in Amazon Redshift.
• Implement best practices and a data-driven culture in the company to scale and optimize team performance.
• Work closely with Selency product and tech teams on diverse data projects.
• Provide leadership, strategic insight, and clear communication (written and verbal) to the team.
• Later: Build serverless real-time data applications.
• Why not later: Recruit and manage team of data engineer(s).

• Data Science Master, Statistics and/or a degree from a top engineer school.
• 3+ years of experience transforming sizable data sets into world-class business intelligence solutions, preferably in an e-commerce environment.
• Strong analytical skills to support data driven decision making.
• Highly advanced SQL skills (AWS Redshift preferred).
• Strong experience with one or more programming languages (Python preferred).
• General all-round tech person with an insatiable thirst to learn and a broad skill-set to deliver on such a diverse project (e.g. comfortable using technologies such as Git, AWS, Docker, MongoDB, APIs, etc.)
• Good to have: Data visualization experience.
• High energy, “can do” attitude, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Innovative, structured and business minded all in one.
• Able to think strategically while keen on being very hands-one to do what has to be done.
• Outstanding communication skills including verbal, written, & presentation.
• Very pragmatic, independent and rigorous.
