MANUFACTURING ENGINEER INTERN
Our Manufacturing Engineering Internship provides a college student in their junior or senior year an opportunity to experience Manufacturing Engineering for a minimum of 12 weeks. This is a paid internship based out of our Garden Grove, California location that is structured to allow interns to take on Manufacturing Engineering tasks to gain work experience.
The Intern will assist the Continuous Improvement Manager with an analysis of non-conforming products, improve and standardize manufacturing processes and reduce manufacturing costs. The Intern will support projects dealing with manufacturing, MRB, 8-D models cause and effect diagrams, statistical process control and analysis, and operational instructions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
DOCUMENTATION
• Create schedules, flow charts, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
• Develops and/or updates work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Develops and/or sustains quality assurance databases.
• Manage projects successfully utilizing MS Project or similar PM tools, including planning, designing, monitoring, executing, and closure of projects.
ANALYSIS
• Technical data generation, calculations, and analysis; available tools include SPC workstations. These tasks may involve creating new Excel spread sheets or modifying existing files.
• Performs time studies to monitor and/or improve production efficiency.
• Performs data entry and analysis, in MS Excel or MS Access, for trending to manage related action items.
• Actively identify new opportunities for process improvement as well as, identifying opportunities for quality improvements within current manufacturing processes and systems, to achieve increased efficiency and/or cost savings
• Collaborate with production team to analyze data and site metrics.
PROCESSES
• Assist team in identifying process improvements.
• Design tooling and manage implementation.
• Co-develop and coordinate SPC’s spec plans and capture results through observations and data collection.
• Support the quoting and/or qualification of equipment.
• Coordinate with and through support teams and/or Suppliers to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable time frame, scope, and budget.
• Research equipment or component needs and makes recommendations, sources competitive prices, delivery times, or ongoing operational costs; initiates request for proposals (RFP’s).
• Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of second year in an undergraduate engineering degree program. Preferably Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Completion of college level courses in quality assurance, mechanical testing, design, and material properties
• MS Office (Excel / Word), MS PowerPoint mid to expert level
• Proficient with Blueprint Reading and drawing standards per ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T)
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in team-based settings

• Vigorous work ethic and high-performance standards
• Ability to work on projects independently and in team environment
• Good communication skills both oral/written
