The Protolab:
The Prototype Laboratory (Protolab) is an applied research unit within Softbank Robotics Europe (formerly Aldebaran Robotics) which focuses on implementing state of the art algorithms for robots such as Pepper, Nao, and Romeo. Our goal is to develop and improve new capabilities and skills for a robot companion.
In this context, multiple topics are proposed for mid- to long-term internships. We aim to offer a stimulating environment, working on high-tech humanoid robotic platforms. The following internship proposals are broad so that they can be discussed and oriented depending on the profile of the candidate.
JOB CONTAIN:
Subject: Improvement of robots simulation on Gazebo
Simulated environments are commonly used to address the different challenges of the humanoid robotics field. In order to address these problems we test the solution in an simulated environment before testing it on the real robot. In collaboration with control and modeling team, the internship's objective is to improve the simulation tools and the model of our robot, Pepper. By improving the simulated environment, it will reduce the gap with the reality in a controlled virtual environment. After the first phase of implementation and experimentation, if the time allows it, integration of new solutions such as new sensors will be envisioned. These improvements will be based on the comments and ideas of the recruited intern. Creating and and improving new robots' models could also be considered
